Augsburg - Muehlhausen Airport Information
Augsburg Airport(IATA: AGB) is a regional german airport in Affing, Bavaria, north of the city of Augsburg. Transport connection exists to the nearby freeway A 8. The location is 7 km northeast of Augsburg Downtown. The number of passengers in 2005 was about 48,000. After 2005 passenger traffic was relocated to Munich Airport, leaving the Augsburg region of Bavaria without an air passenger airport within close reach. Since then, the airport is still used for general aviation and business airplanes.
The airport was opened in 1968 after the former airport in the southern suburb Haunstetten had to be closed due to the construction of the new University of Augsburg on the airfield compound.
